The last few decades have seen a spectacular development in the health consiousness of the general public.Health care has become a costly affair and the patients have become more demanding for better care.Todays patients are better informed and know more about healthcare services. As a result,there is a tremendous pressure to reform the manner in which healthcare is delivered to contain the cost and still provide high care to all. Little Flower Hospital and Research centre provides quality care at affordable cost.Corporate Relations department was started in the year 2003 for cashless hospitalization . In a course of time we had a tie up with almost 27 TPA’s. TPA is the Third party Administrator licensed by the IRDA(Insurance Regulatory and development Authority) servicing government owned Insurance companies.

Procedure followed by the Department:

As soon as information is received from the ward about the patient admitted with the card of the above companies, a staff from the corporate relations department goes to the respective patient and verifies his card. If the card is valid a Pre-authorization request of the respective TPA is duly filled in by the treating doctor. After that it is faxed to the company for which the reply is received within 8 working hours. There is a panel of doctors in each TPA who decides whether the claim should be sanctioned or not. If it is been sanctioned IP credit is continued till the time of discharge. If the amount at the time of discharge is higher than the amount sanctioned then an enhancement is sent from the hospital which will be approved within 3 hours. All non medical expenses are collected form the patient which are disallowed by the company. All original documents are checked and send it to the respective company within 10 days of patients discharge. If the pre-authorization request has been denied, the patient has to settle all his bills and go for reimbursement.

Procedure to be followed by the patient:

The patient at the time of admission should show the valid ID card provided by their TPA approved by the hospital either in the duty room where they are getting admitted or they can approach the corporate relations department directly. The patients are given credit as soon as they are admitted where in the mean time cashless procedures are followed in the department. If the pre-authorization request is denied by the company then the patient had to go for reimbursement.
