Dr Stigi Joseph

Interventional Cardiologist heading the Department of Cardiology at Little flower Hospital Angamaly. He is the Medical Superintendent of the hospital from 2016 onwards. In addition to Cardiac and Vascular interventions, his focus fields include Cardiac autonomic Neuropathy, care of Heart failure patients and advanced Cardiac imaging like Cardiac MRI for myocardial diseases and CT-Coronary Angiogram. He is Researcher with various high indexed journal publications and has Indian patents in his credit.

 

Educational qualifications.

He did his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Government Medical college, Kottayam and DM (Cardiology) from Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCT-IMST): Thiruvananthapuram.

In the year 2008, he did Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac MRI from Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud (ICPS-Paris): Massy, Paris, France. Later in 2019, he secured a Distance Fellowship in Diabetes management from CMC-Vellore.

In addition, he was the Vice-President of Cochin cardiac forum in 2019 and has served as Executive Committee member for various professional organisations including Cardiology Society of India-Kerala Chapter, Interventional Cardiology Council of Kerala, Cochin Cardiac Forum, IMA Madhya Kerala branch and Society for Heart Failure and transplantation.

Publications.

As the Principal investigator of the Kerala Acute Heart Failure Registry, he was the lead author for the published article on Kerala Acute Heart failure registry in the prestigious European Heart Journal in the year 2021. At the time of publication, this was the largest data (>7500 patient data across Kerala) on Acute Heart Failure from India and other middle-income countries.

In addition, he is a reviewer for various international journals. As Head of the Department of Cardiology, he has organised more than 100 Free Medical camps for Cardiology patients and conducted multiple state level Cardiology conferences.
